Well it’s that time of year to start thinking about getting your fish tucked in for the winter in your koi pond. Some things to remember are below and don’t forget if you need supplies or help getting your pond set for winter Aquatopia can help!
– Pond Netting ( helps keep leaves and debris out of your pond so they don’t rot and become toxic over the winter)
– Install both an aerator and a heater ( 4 stone aerator are perfect size and 100 watt heaters do the job nicely) Having 2 is good insurance incase something should happen to one of them
– Remove your main pump…clean and store in a non freezing area
– Cut back as much vegetation as possible within the pond (marginal and lily pads)
Good Luck with your pond care and thanks for reading!
